VBS Govt will fall like a house of cards: Dhumal

Published on:

Senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Monday claimed that with the coming to power of BJP Government at the Centre, the Virbhadra Singh Government in Himachal Pradesh would collapse like a house of cards.

Addressing election meetings here, he alleged that Virbhadra Singh was involved in corruption cases from head to tow and added that the person who had been boasting of remaining a Chief Minister six-time had virtually done nothing for the welfare of the people and the development of the State.

Dhumal lamented that the people of Sarkaghat, the most arid region of Mandi, were facing untold hardship due to the scarcity of drinking water at the very outset of summer. When they met the Chief Minister recently during his tour there for the completion of a long pending drinking water supply scheme, he evaded them merely by saying that the water supply scheme they were referring to would not be completed even in 50 years.

Alleging discrimination with Mandi, Dhumal said Chief Minister had always meted out a step-motherly treatment with Mandi district. On coming to power in 2012, the first thing he did was closing of the educational institutions opened during the BJP rule. later when his wife was given the Congress ticket from the Mandi Parliamentary constituency reopened these institutions fearing impact on her victory.

He said in 1977 when Shanta Kumar was the BJP chief minister and Sarkaghat was reeling under acute scarcity of water he drew water on a war-footing from the far off Risa Khud and provided potable water to the people just within 27 months and people still remember him with gratitude.

Dhumal regretted that Virbhadra Singh was exhausting his energy in framing false and fabricated cases against his opponents and detractors by abandoning development works which had come to a virtual halt. He had looped so low that even his sons were being framed in false cases.

The former CM said instead of appreciating the efforts of Anurag who brought Himachal Pradesh on the world map of cricket, Virbhadra Singh was leaving no stone unturned in decimating cricket itself. His action against cricket stadiums  in the state invited widespread indignation at home and abroad. The international matches this year were to be held in Dharamsala had to cancelled when his government revengefully declined to provide security which every country

proudly offers.

Dhumal who was canvassing in Mandi for Ram Swarup Sharma, said the end of the corrupt Congress rule was imminent and the BJP would win all the four seats in Himachal Pradesh. The recent Modi rallies in the state had energized the people, particularly the youths and made the BJP victory certain. Meanwhile, election campaign has intensified in Mandi and Kulu districts. All BJP workers headed by the party MlAs were working overnight. The national general secretary of BJP, JP Nadda held a series of public meetings in this part of the state a week.
