The Haryana Government would soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Universities to start a certificate course to make the representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) more efficient in rural development.

Haryana Development and Panchayats Minister Om Parkash Dhankar on Tuesday said that it is for the first time that BJP Government in the State had taken an initiative of allocating separate budget to the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) so as to make them more capable. This step of the State Government is being appreciated in the whole country, he said, while speaking at Karnal.

While congratulating the representatives of PRIs on the Panchayati Raj Diwas, he said that more than 29 services were being made available to the people directly through Panches and Sarpanches.

Apart from this, website of each Gram Panchayat is being prepared, through which anyone could get information about the village only with a click of mouse. A new scheme has also been implemented to install ‘Gaurav Patt’ in the villages to apprise the young generation about the glorious history of the villages of the State, he informed.

The Minister said that it has been the endeavour of the State Government to ensure that only the candidates of clean image come forward to contest the elections to Panchayats and local bodies. He added that after upholding the condition of mandatory educational qualification by the Supreme Court and stressing the need to adopt this initiative in the entire country, Haryana has emerged as a unique example in the country.
