The UT Administration has geared up to conduct demolition drive in Sector 52 on Saturday.
A demolition drive will be conducted in Kuldeep Colony, Mazdoor Colony and Pandit Colony and others located in Sector 52, near Kajehri village.
Recently, the District Magistrate had served a 21-day eviction notice on residents of Kuldeep Colony, Mazdoor Colony and Pandit Colony, all located in Sector 52, near Kajehri village to vacate the premises.
More than 2,000 families will be affected due to the demolition drive to be held on Saturday.
UT land Acquisition Officer Tilak Raj said that the administration had chalked out an elaborate security plan to prevent any untoward incident during the demolition drive. The drive will start at around 7 am and is likely to continue till the evening.
As many as 10 earth removers and three JCBs would be deployed for the demolition drive. last year, the UT Administration had demolished city’s biggest slum-colony number 5 rendering more than 5000 families homeless.
