The Union Territory of Chandigarh is ranked at third position in terms of overall solar rooftop plant installation capacity in the country. Apart from this, Chandigarh has been placed at first position in terms of Government intervention with installation of 4.46 MW solar plants here.
BS Bhalla, Secretary, UT Science & Technology Department on Thursday informed that as per latest data released by Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Chandigarh has been placed at third and first positions in different categories for implementation of solar power projects. Bhalla apprised Vijay Dev, Adviser to the Administrator about the working of Chandigarh Science & Technology Department on Thursday. A Table Calendar – 2015 with theme titled “Chandigarh – A Model Solar City” was also released by Dev on Thursday in the UT Secretariat here.
