The UT Powermen Union will observe a day long strike on February 11.
The strike will be observed on the demands of withdrawal of UT Administration’s proposal to privatise UT Electricity Department, filling up over 600 posts lying vacant in the department since long, removal of pay anomalies, amendments in rules and safety devices to the workmen among others. The Union also held a rally on Tuesday in front of Electricity Office, Manimajra in support of their long-pending demands.
The Union leaders while addressing the rally strongly criticised the Administration’s’ proposal to corporatise the Electricity Department. The Union leaders alleged that instead of implementing the demands, Administration is adopting repressive attitude and employee were being harassed by way of transferring them.
