Chandigarh BJP on Wednesday alleged that the UT Food and Supplies department was unnecessarily harassing the poor people of the city.
The BJP alleged the department was harassing the poor people in the name of executing ‘cash transfer scheme’ in Chandigarh. The BJP leaders said earlier, the male head of a family was asked to open a bank account to execute ‘cash transfer scheme’ and now when they have opened the bank account, the officials of the Department were asking that the ration cards would be made in the name of ‘female’ family head.
The opposition party said under the Congress-rule, the poor people and slum dwellers are being harassed but the local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal had become a silent spectator and had failed to resolve the grievances of the public. “The ration card holders are not getting proper supply of ration for the last three-four months. When the depot holders are approached for ration, they flatly refuse saying that the Department has not issued any quota,” BJP alleged.
The party leaders said that the poor people of various colonies of Chandigarh were suffering a lot and the Congress-led Government that had assured the ration in one rupee had even failed to provide the ration items to the card holders.
