The UT Excise Department could auction only six liquor vends out of remaining 98 vends in an auction held on Wednesday.
The Department generated Rs 9.23 crore from Wednesday’s auction.
The Department had invited bids for the allotment of 98 liquor vends including 60 foreign liquor and 38 country liquor vends but could auction only six vends. In last three auctions, the Department had managed to auction 119 liquor vends and the total revenue generated by auctions stands at aboveRs 132 crore now.
This year, the auction of liquor vends has received poor response due to the higher license fee. This is the first time when more than two auctions of liquor vends have been organised by the UT.
