Chandigarh Election Department will begin an electors’ verification programme (EVP) including house to house verification to authenticate existing electoral details in the city.
A meeting in this regard was held here under Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Chief Electoral Officer- cum- Finance Secretary, Chandigarh with the representatives of political parties. During the meeting, it was emphasized that the special summary revision which began on August 1 will continue till August 31 wherein removal of logical errors will be done, said an official spokesman.
At present, there are a total of 646084 voters including 341640 male, 304423 female and 21 third gender voters in Chandigarh.
Among them, there were a total of 17598 first time voters (18-19 years) in the city during the parliamentary elections 2019.
