A day prior to the strike of UT Powermen Union, the UT Administration has made it clear that the principle of “No work No Pay” shall be strictly enforced.

The UT Powermen Union has given a call for observance of one day strike on July 30. The Union will protest against the proposal of UT Administration to corporatise the UT Electricity Department as well as against the outsourcing and scrapping of contract system.

A senior official of the UT Administration said, “The employees are advised to attend their duty on July 30. The principle of “No work No Pay” shall be strictly enforced. And, the defaulting employees will also be liable for other disciplinary action.”

“The Administration has always been sympathetic to the genuine demands of the Electricity Employees and there is no cause for any strike by the Employees,” added the official.

The official also said that necessary arrangements for maintaining the continuity of power supply has been made but chances of failure of power supply due to any untoward incident cannot be ruled out.

The general public is requested to contact various Complaint Centres in their area for electricity complaints. The public is also requested to keep a vigil on the electricity lines and in case they find anyone indulging in sabotage the power supply, they can inform the Police Control room and contact Control Room Sector 17 on 2703242, 2700200 and Control Room Sector 9 on 2742370, 2743940 and Citizen Facilitation Centre on 4639999
