Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday exhorted the people to uproot the Congress-led UPA at the Centre and form NDA Government to get rid of poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, corruption, inflation and other social maladies being faced by the country.
Badal, addressing a mammoth gathering at a state level function organised in the memory of Baba Moti Ram Mehra, categorically said that the Congress party who had been at the helms of affairs of the country for long period was responsible for the plight of the country.
Training his guns against the Congress, Badal said that the national party was "neck deep in corruption and the key Ministers of the UPA Government have plundered huge wealth due to which the agonies of the common man has increased manifolds".
Adding further, Badal said that due to Centre's wrong policies, agriculture was no longer a profitable preposition and massive increase in cost of agriculture inputs coupled with non-remunerative MSP has virtually brought the country's peasantry on the crossroads due to which they were being forced to commit suicides.
"If SAD-BJP Government had not bailed out state farmers by providing free power to them, situation of Punjab's peasantry would also have been worst," Badal justified the State Government's decision giving power subsidy to the State farmers.
