Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday alleged that the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre in its second term was riddled with corruption and did not work for the welfare of the people.

The UPA Government had failed to even control price rise as Cabinet Ministers were busy in corruption, he alleged adding that Congress was responsible for the present situation in the country as the UPA Government did nothing for development.

Addressing a public rally, Badal said that the successive Congress Governments at the Centre had always betrayed Punjab on every front whether it was loan waiver scheme of farmers, industrial package for the neighbouring States or other welfare schemes.

“It was wrong policies of the Centre that led to the present state of affairs in the country,” he added. He called upon the people to vote in favour of SAD-BJP alliance and to support for all the 13 seats to constitute a BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre as it would rope in more funds from NDA to develop the State.

He claimed that a strong Narendra Modi wave was blowing across the country and the Congress would be thrown out of power. “Modi will give justice to Punjab as all unsolved problems of the State, including claim on Chandigarh and river water issue would be solved,” he said.

BAJWA FlAYS SUKHBIR FOR SEllING DREAMS AGAINST lACK OF

DEVElOPMENT

Gurdaspur: Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa on Thursday slammed Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal for selling dreams of taking State to higher tangent of development while reality at the grass roots was different with the lack of even basic amenities like proper roads, thereby filling up the people with anger which they would vent out in this election.

“During previous seven years of Parkash Singh Badal Government, not a single big ticket project has been allocated to Majha, what to talk of Gurdaspur lok Sabha constituency comprising Gurdaspur and Pathankot districts. His development

balloon has burst and humiliating defeat is staring in the face of the Akali Dal-BJP

combine in this border State where the impact of Narendra Modi is nowhere

discernible,” he said.

Bajwa claimed that he was instrumental in taking up the issue of One-Rank-One-Pension scheme for ex-servicemen which was taken to logical conclusion benefiting lakhs of army men, besides about 50,000 ex-servicemen in Majha out of whom about 30,000 were in Gurdaspur and Pathankot districts.

SINGlA EXHORTS PEOPlE TO VOTE AGAINST AKAlI’S ‘FEAR CUlTURE’

Sangrur: Firing a fresh salvo against the SAD-BJP alliance, Congress candidate from Sangrur lok Sabha seat Vijay Inder Singla on Thursday accused the combine of using money earned by it through the means of corruption in the state to purchase votes.

Addressing a series of his poll related meetings in the villages of Dirbha Assembly segment, Singla hoped that the vigilant people will not walk into trap of Akali’s and give them a befitting reply on the coming April 30 by giving clean mandate against them.

Singla, making a scathing attack over his arch rival Akali Dal candidate Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, said that Dhindsa family has not been able to use their position in the party or SAD-BJP Government to bring any development projects to the area and their only contribution has been to empty the coffer, increase the debt of the state, support all type of mafia includes land mafia and drug mafia, and put road blocks in the central projects.
