United Akali Dal has announced to join the electoral battle of Punjab Vidhan Sabha next year. Addressing a Press conference here, party leader Mohkam Singh announced the party would contest all the 117 Assembly seats in the State.
Condemning Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for politicising the issue of SYl canal, he said it was a distant dream and it would never be a reality, but the volunteers of UAD would nominally fill the Rajasthan Canal at Harike Pattan on August 4, where the waters of Punjab had been going to Rajasthan for years.
Sending a warning to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal, Mohkam Singh said the policy of going alone in Punjab may lead AAP to the same fate, that the Manpreet Badal led PPP met in the previous elections, and let Shiromani Akali Dal make a come back in the government. He said the UAD is organising a grand convention in the end of August and Sikh groups from across the country will be invited for it.
