Union Minister of State for Agriculture and food processing Sanjeev Balyan on Thursday visited Rohtak to take stock of the situation after February’s violent Jat quota stir in the State.
Balyan along with Finance Minister Capt. Abhimanyu visited latter’s house, which was burnt during the Jat reservation agitation in Rohtak.
A rampaging mob of Jat agitators had targeted the Minister's house on February 19 and set it on fire before looting the place.
Talking to the mediapersons after the visit, the Union Minister Balyan alleged that the Minister’s house was burnt under a pre-planned strategy by the rioters.
The people involved in the crime would not be spared. The Government has already constituted an inquiry commission and guilty would be punished, he added.
One-and-a-half months after the violence, which claimed 30 lives in the state, Capt. Abhimanyu had visited the place for the first time on April 3 only to see the charred remains of home.
Earlier this week, seven policemen were suspended for negligence during the Jat quota stir, which witnessed unprecedented violence and arson in Rohtak.
Four among the seven suspended were posted at Haryana Finance Minister’s house, which was burnt twice by the mob on February 19 and 20. Also, an internal inquiry against 48 policemen is going on and a total of 16 policemen had been suspended, including the seven suspended on Tuesday in Rohtak, which was the epicentre of Jat agitation.
