A dead body was found lying under mysterious circumstances at the roundabout of Sector-18-19-20-21 here on Wednesday. The UT Police is suspecting a murder case as the face of the deceased was badly smashed with stones. The deceased was not identified as no identification proof was found from the body.
Sources in the police said that the incident came to light on the wee hours of Wednesday when a commuter informed police about a dead body lying at the roundabout. On receiving information, a police team reached on the spot and found the body lying in a pool of blood.Police later shifted the body to Sector-16 Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH) for post mortem.
“We are suspecting that the deceased was killed by robbers who allegedly killed him to take his belongings, but the exact reason of the murder is yet to be ascertained,” said Poonam Dilawari, SHO, Police Station Sector-19. Meanwhile, a case of suspicious death has been registered and further investigations are under progress in the mater, added the SHO.
