Soon after the reports of UK-based hotelier Ranjit Singh Powar’s murder, who was on a business trip to Punjab, broke out, anger had evoked among Punjabi diaspora. Expressing their anguish and concern about the incident, North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) executive director Satnam Singh Chahal said that after Powar’s murder, Punjabi diaspora is living under the shadow of fear and insecurity.
“This is more than unfortunate that he was abducted in the broad daylight from the international airport and later murdered near Anandpur Sahib,” he said. Chahal questioned that why criminals are choosing a safe and secure place to Punjab to abduct or murder any NRI visiting Punjab. “There should be proper investigation that why the criminals are choosing Punjab the best safe place for these kinds of crimes,” he said. He urged the law enforcement agencies to make this part of their investigation if there is any hand of any big politicians or Government officials behind this murder.
