Two teachers of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS) at Dadumajra were booked for allegedly molesting girl students in school premises.
A case was registered when the girls approached police, after repeated requests made to the school management seeking action against the accused teachers failed. The accused, Ashok Kumar (Political Science teacher) and Mukesh Kumar (Economics teacher) have been booked under section 354-A (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 12 of the POCSO Act (sexual harassment of the child),” said Uzvir Goel, ASP, UT Police.
According to the parents of victims, the two teachers had been misbehaving with girl students of Class XII since past few weeks.
Recently on Saturday, a group of enraged parents thrashed them in the school premises. However, no case was registered as the school authorities had assured to take strict action against the duo. “We did not report to the police last time, as School Principal Balwinder Singh and Chanchal Singh (UT Deputy Director of School Education) had assured to take action against the two accused. However when no action was taken by authorities, we decided to lodge a case against them,” said the father of a victim.
“Though the teachers were transferred from the school, no inquiry was conducted against them. Apart from it, complainant girls were repeatedly being mentally harassed by other teaching staff, for their complaints against the two male teachers,” the father added. In the complaint to the local police, girls alleged that their teachers usually looked for excuses to touch them and also tried to hold their hands in class. Following the repeated incidents, the girl students had complained to a woman teacher regarding this but no action was taken by the school authorities against the two.
