Close on the heels of busting a terror module being run by Pak-based Gangster-turned-
Terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda, Punjab Police on Friday has arrested two more
operatives from Ferozepur. Those arrested have been identified as Akashdeep alias
Akash of Ferozepur and Jashanpreet Singh alias Jass of Faridkot.
In a statement, SSP Ferozepur Charanjit Singh said that on the disclosures of four
accused arrested in Haryana, Punjab Police had been continuously conducting raids to
apprehend the other members of the module. He said that the State Special Operation
Cell (SSOC) Fazilka along with District Police Ferozepur arrested these two operatives
when they were trying to flee from Ferozepur in their Mahindra Scorpio car following the
arrest of their four accomplices in Karnal.
Pertinently, four accused persons identified as Gurpreet Singh, Amandeep Singh and
Parminder Singh, trio residents of village Vinjoke in Zira, Ferozepur; and Bhupinder
Singh of Village Bhatian in Ludhiana were arrested with recovery of three IEDs packed
in a metallic case (2.5 kg each) and one pistol, from Karnal by the Haryana Police
following the inputs from the Punjab Police on Thursday.
The SSP said that the police have also brought gangster Rajvir Singh alias Raja, who
had introduced Gurpreet to Rinda, on a production warrant from Bathinda Jail. Raja is a
hardcore criminal having dozens of criminal cases registered against him. Preliminary
investigations carried out so far have revealed that both operatives were directly
involved in yesterday's busted module, he said, adding that they had received several
consignments sent by Pak ISI and Pak based pro-Khalistan terrorist groups and further
delivered it at the behest of Rinda.
The SSP said that Akash revealed that Rinda had sent explosive consignment through
drones and he along with Gurpreet received it in his grandmother's village and placed
these consignments on the locations sent by Rinda.
Meanwhile, a new case has been registered against these accused persons in
Ferozepur Cantt Police Station under relevant sections of the UAP(A) Act, Explosive act
and Arms Act. Both arrested accused have been produced before the magistrate and
taken on police remand for further investigation.
Five mobile vans flagged off to ensure judicious use of farm chemicals in Haryana
PNS Chandigarh
Haryana Agriculture Minister JP Dalal on Friday flagged-off five mobile vans to ensure
judicious use of crop protection chemicals that support sustainable farm management.
The mobile vans will educate, engage and empower the farmers of Haryana. The
campaign is part of agro-chemical policy platform, Agro Chem Federation of India
(ACFI), which is creating awareness among farmers about the right and optimal use of
pesticides for increasing crop yield, quality and income.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Dalal said unscrupulous elements are flooding Indian
markets with low-quality and spurious agri-input products, which may derail the
country's progress in food production. "This should be controlled by all the stakeholders.
The ACFI has taken a very good step to educate our farmers which should be lauded
and supported," he said.
ACFI Director General, Kalyan Goswami urged the Union government to take effective
steps to control illegal import of pesticides.
Goswami added that the farmers need to insist on an invoice or bill with a GST number
whenever they purchase agrochemicals."Insisting on invoice will help check the sale of
harmful agriculture inputs. It will also be a win-win situation for all the stakeholders,
including farmers, consumers and industry," he said. The General Secretary of Rashtriya
Kisan Progressive Association, Pawan Payal, said a nationwide campaign is on for the
reduction of GST from 18 per cent to 5 per cent so that farmers can purchase crop
protection products with bills.
