With the Haryana Assembly polls barely two months away, political parties in the State will virtually launch their election campaign from August 16. Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah will address a rally in Jind on August 16 while former Chief Minister and Senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda has announced ‘Parivartan Maharally’ in Rohtak on August 18.
To make BJP’s Jind rally successful, senior BJP leaders and some State Cabinet Ministers and large number of party workers have been stationed in Jind.
While former CM Hooda who has not invited any senior Congress leaders from Delhi for his rally, has himself
taken command of ‘Parivartan Maharally’, seeking support of the people by visiting
village to village in his stronghold of Rohtak.
Former MP and his son Deepender Singh Hooda and some Congress leaders like Karan Singh Dalal are assisting him to make this ‘Parivartan Maharally’ successful. Even Ashok Tanwar, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee chief said that he has no idea of the proposed rally in Rohtak and has kept himself away from it.
Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that ‘Parivartan Maha Rally’ would be held in Rohtak on August 18 to dislodge the “corrupt and non-performing” Manohar Lal Khattar government in the assembly election. BJP had made 154 promises through its election manifesto in 2014, but failed to meet the exception of the people.
He asked party workers to ensure maximum participation in the rally at Rohtak on August 18. He claimed that the downfall of Khattar government would begin after the rally.
On the other hand, a BJP leader said that the Home Minister’s visit and rally in Hisar would have an impact on several seats in Hisar, Rohtak and Karnal districts. Senior BJP leader and State Agriculture and Panchayats Minister OP Dhankar said, “For a healthy democracy, opposition parties should be strong. Unfortunately, big parties like Congress and INLD in the state are struggling due to leadership crisis. Their leaders are hungry of power and fighting themselves. Current BJP- led government has provided corruption free governance in the last five years. BJP’s agenda was only development of the people. Party has set the target of 75+ and we are working effectively to achieve it.”
In their early phase of election campaign, the parties are eyeing Assembly constituencies in districts like Rohtak, Hisar, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Jind and Sonepat which are Jat dominated seats.
Rohtak and Jind which are conventionally known as Congress and INLD bastions due to a majority of Jat voters, but BJP is trying to woo the voters by inviting Union Home Minister Amit Shah who was instrumental in scarping Article 370 from the Jammu
& Kashmir. Meanwhile, parties like Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) started their campaign around a month ago in the form of meeting with party workers and interacting with the people though door to door campaign. The leaders and workers of all the political parties are leaving no stone unturned to make their rallies successful.
Moreover, Government level programmes are being organised at large level in the state. Recently a government level programme held in Rohtak wherein village panchayats securing star ranking under 7-Star Rainbow scheme were awarded.
