Two coffee table books —  ‘The talented Children of the Tri-City Vol. I’ and ‘Chandigarh and its leading Personalities Vol. 3’ were launched at a function held at the Government Museum and Art Gallery, Sector 10 here on Sunday.

Chandigarh Mayor Subhash Chawla was the chief guest while Dronacharya Desh Prem Azad was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. The books have been authored by Aneesh Bhanot.

While the book on talented children profiles 71 children, the leading personalities book features 82 personalities from a cross-section of society including social activists, artists, architects, doctors, administrators, entrepreneurs, sports persons, industrialists among others.

Both the books have been dedicated to Neerja Bhanot, the brave Chandigarh girl who achieved fame world-wide by giving up her own life while saving the lives of hundreds of others during a plane hijack in September 1986.

According to Aneesh Bhanot, “The basic objective behind the book on talented children is to recognize their achievements and motivate them, as well as their friends and classmates, to achieve further success in their chosen field.”

The two books will be available at leading book stores in Chandigarh shortly. The “Talented Children of the Tri-City” is of 82 pages and is priced at Rs495. “Chandigarh and its leading Personalities” is of 180 pages and is priced at Rs4600.
