Two acid bottles were seized from outside the private residence of Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday at Sector 19 here by the police.

Initially police suspected that this could be a part of an attempt to attack Tiwari, however he had left for his constituency ludhiana on Saturday itself. later the bottles proved to be toilet cleaners and could have been left there by some negligent cleaner.

Satish Kumar, personal security officer of Tewari, found four bottles of acid from the boundary wall of the Minister’s residence. While two of them were filled with liquid, remaining two were empty. A case in the police station Sector-19 was also registered on the complaint of the PSO.

A police team reached the spot and handed over the bottles to the team of Central Forensic Science laboratory (CFSl) to examine the content of bottles.

Harjeet Kaur, Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station sector-19, said that the bottles which police recovered from outside Tewari’s residence had labels of Toilet cleaner on it. However the sample has been sent for forensic test and police is investigating all angles, including foul play, she added.
