Tripura CM calls on farmers to revolt against Centre

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and farmers’ leaders on Tuesday called on the farmers to die fighting for their rights rather than commit suicides and take revenge through an organised rebellion to avenge the treachery by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has broken poll-promises.

Manik Sarkar, while speaking at the Mazdoor-Kisan rally organised by All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) in Hisar, said that there is hardly any difference between BJP and Congress or between NDA and UPA when it comes to pursuing anti-people economic policies.

At election time, these parties makes promises for peoples’ welfares but then they all work only as agents of the monopoly capital, multinational corporations, big landlords and big traders, said he.

Sarkar added the RSS and BJP had no contribution to the freedom movement and now they are pretending to be nationalists while, infact, implementing the British legacy of ‘divide and rule’ that is reflected in the terrible attacks on the minorities of this great country.

Hannan Mollah, the AIKS general secretary, said it is a crisis tha thas no solution but instead it calls for a revolution to chart a new path for the society. Sixty percent population of the country depends on agriculture and there is no protection for them, said he.

He also called for strengthening of the Kisan Sabha and establishment of a ‘Peoples Unity’ through the newly-formed two federations of hundreds of  Kisan organisations to fight against subsidy-cuts, against imprisonment of Kisan leaders on false charges and against all oppression.

The first action in this movement will be a ‘Torch Marches’ on October 30 throughout the country, he added.
