Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Monday said that a tool room would be set up to further promote industries in Faridabad.
“Faridabad is included in the 100 smart cities selected in the country and hopefully, it would also be included in the 20 smart cities coming up next year,” said the Chief Minister while addressing a function at Faridabad.
With a view to develop Faridabad as a smart city, Haryana Government had recently submitted the final upgraded Smart City Proposal (SCP) to the Union Ministry of Urban Development.
The revised SCP, projecting a total expenditure of Rs 2,600.01 crore was prepared after consultation with residents, collection of details and meetings with officers of different departments of the State Government.
The Chief Minister said that the city would truly become a smart city if its people would work with the feel of belongingness to the city, to the state and to the country. The future of Faridabad city is bright and concerted efforts would be made for its development. The lost glory of Faridabad would be restored and Faridabad would be the best city in the National Capital region, he added.
He said that the present pace of development and the number of ambitious projects coming up in Faridabad would definitely fetch Faridabad the status of a smart city.
On the occasion, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishan Pal Gurjar said that with the construction of Manjhawali Yamuna Bridge, the connectivity between Noida and Faridabad would be improved.
Notably, Faridabad had been shortlisted as one of the fast track cities for smart city by the Union Ministry of Urban Development. Now, the declaration about cities that would be selected under ‘Fast Track Cities’ is expected to be made in June 2016.
After evaluation of smart city plans of 97 cities in the first round of competition and announcement of the first list of 20 cities, Faridabad was selected among other 23 cities which were given an opportunity to submit revised plans to participate in the 'Fast Track Competition' under Smart City Mission.
The revised SCP for Faridabad included area-based development proposals. The SCP also included Smart Mobility incorporating pedestrianisation and Non Motorised Transport (NMT) and Intelligent Traffic Management System, which comprises synchronised traffic signals for optimum traffic flow, intelligent car parking system, smart signage, smart auto and taxi stands and public bike sharing system.
