The last date of filing of nomination papers for all the 68 Assembly constituencies of Himachal has been fixed as October 23. The Assembly election in the State is scheduled to be held on November 9.
The scrutiny of nomination papers filed would be done on October 24, said a spokesman of the Himachal State Election Office.
He said nominations can be withdrawn till October 26 up to 3 pm and on the same day, the returning officers would allot elections symbols to the contesting candidates.
The spokesman said that the national and state level political recognised parties would only be allotted election symbols reserved for them.
Election Commission of India has provided relief to some political parties who are recognised as state political parties in other states by allotting them their desired election symbol. The independent candidates would be allotted election symbols amongst the free symbols decided by the EC, added he.
