In a bid to promote sports in schools, Haryana Government will appoint sports assistant education officers (AEOs) in all government schools.
“The sports AEOs would be appointed to improve the sports environment in government schools. The applications have been invited for the appointment of AEOs (sports) in all 22 districts by August 2,” said Joint Secretary, School Education, Virender Singh.
He said that their selection would not only be based on educational qualification, but also on their sports achievements.
Elaborating more on this, he said that those AEOs who were already working could also send their applications. The issue of appointment of AEO (Sports) had been engaging attention of the State Government for quite some time, as the sports activities needed to be streamlined and taken to further higher levels of efficiency and effectiveness, said he.
Recently, the government had made it mandatory for each government college to opt for three sports and develop required infrastructure in a bid to promote sports.
