Not letting the issue of corruption charges against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to go down easily, an urgent meeting of State BJP executive committee and core group has been called just after the weeklong protest of party against the Chief Minister gets over on January 10.

The BJP has been demanding resignation of Virbhadra Singh on alleged corruption charges and to mount pressure, a week-long protest was being held in different district headquarters from January 4 to January 10 in which several top party leaders were participating. Sources said that the party wanted to capitalise on the allegations of corruption against the Chief Minister and his Council of Ministers as mentioned in the BJP chargesheet submitted to Governor Urmila Singh on December 25 and was likely to strategise on the issue to mount pressure on Virbhadra Singh to either step down or the Congress leadership to ask him to resign.

Party spokesperson Ganesh Dutt said that meeting was planned and all the leaders of the State from each district and different cells of the party would meet during the executive committee meet and chalk out strategy for the 2014 general polls. “Issues of different districts will be discussed at length apart from strategy to corner the Congress on graft charges and also names of probable candidates for the 2014 general polls from the four parliamentary constituencies will be discussed,” said Dutt.

Among the top leaders who will be present in the meeting, include leader of Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal, party veteran and Rajya Sabha MP Shanta Kumar, State BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti, party national general secretary JP Nadda and State in-charge and party’s national vice-president Balbir Punj.
