Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday appointed senior BJP leader and former Cabinet Minister Tikshan Sud as his political advisor.
The formal orders regarding his appointment would be issued soon, said official spokesman of the Chief Minister’s Office.
The former Industries Minister in the previous SAD-BJP regime, Sud faced defeat in 2012 assembly polls in Hoshiarpur despite being BJP’s traditional stronghold assembly segment.
Besides Sud, the Chief Minister also appointed former Markfed chairman Ravinder Singh Brahmpura as the chairman of Tarn Taran District Planning Committee. “This appointment was made under the clause 3 sub-clause 6 of Punjab District Planning Committee Act, 2005,” stated the spokesperson.
