Three Chandigarh candidates on same platform

Published on:

It was a rare occasion when three main candidates, contesting from three different political parties from Chandigarh came on a platform to discuss issues concerning the city on Friday.

Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal, BJP candidate Kirron Kher and Aam Aadmi Party nominee Harmohan Dhawan  participated in a debate at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16.

Bansal said BJP’s nominee and outgoing MP Kirron Kher’s remarks where she expressed her displeasure at Chandigarh being a union territory are really unfortunate.

In the debate, all candidates were given an opportunity to speak on making Punjabi as the official language of Chandigarh.

While reacting to Kirron Kher’s displeasure of Chandigarh being a UT, Bansal said it was unfortunate on her part to say so, adding he is in favour of Chandigarh remaining as UT, and this is what people of Chandigarh would always want to. Kirron later clarified that she is also in favor of UT status of Chandigarh and had just commented on promoting Punjabi in the city.
