Punjab Police on Friday said it has thwarted a potential grenade attack on a police establishment in Batala, ensuring the safety of the state amidst ongoing counter-terrorism efforts. Amritsar Commissionerate Police arrested 10 individuals linked to a Pakistan-backed terror module orchestrated by Harvinder Rinda and foreign-based operatives Happy Passian, Jeevan Fauji, and Jashanpreet Singh alias Lal, said Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Friday.
Among those arrested are four key operatives — Arjanpreet Singh from Awan Ramdas, Lovepreet Singh alias Love from Perhewal, and Basant Singh and Amanpreet Singh alias Aman from Baba Bakala Sahib — all hailing from Amritsar. Six others involved in providing logistical support have also been apprehended, including Barinderpal Singh alias Mani and Rajbir Singh alias Raju from Katle; Vishvas Masih alias Bhabbo from Bhaganpura; and Dilpreet Singh alias Manna, Harjot Kumar alias Mithu, and Joyal Masih alias Rohan alias Nony, all residents of Dera Baba Nanak in Batala.
The police seized two .30 bore pistols, one .32 bore pistol, a hand grenade, and a drone, which were likely intended for future terror activities. The DGP emphasized that investigations are ongoing to trace both forward and backward links of the terror network.
