Announcing the end of 12-hour operation after killing all three terrorists at Dinanagar police station, Punjab Police chief Sumedh Singh Saini said the attackers had AK-47 rifles and grenades. "The terrorists had grenades with 'Made in China' marking, sophisticated weapons, military clothes and even GPS units. They were all well trained," said Saini, adding, "There were three terrorists and all of them were killed".
The terrorists suspected to be members of either Pakistan-based lashkar-e-Taiba (leT) or Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). However, Saini maintained that it was "too early to say from where they have come".
"The modus operandi of the terrorists, the way they launched the attack on this small town, the combat dress they were wearing and their weaponry were suggestive…The terrorists were well equipped and carried two GPS systems…We will probe this matter further," he said of the terrorists' possible Pakistani link.
