With a view to redress grievances related to mobile phone towers in Gurugram, a City-level Telecom Coordination Committee would be constituted to get levels of EMF radiation from such towers checked by Telecom Enforcement and Resource Monitoring (TERM) Cell within one week of receipt of complaint.
Commissioner, Gurugram Municipal Corporation, V Umashankar informed this, during an awareness programme organised by Department of Telecommunications, Government of India in Gurugram.
He said that the committee would comprise officers of Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, Municipal Corporation and District Administration Gurugram and Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA).
As per the extensive studies carried out by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and various scientific organisations, current evidence does not confirm the existence of any health consequences from exposure to low level electromagnetic field, he said.
He also said that more such awareness programmes would be conducted in Gurugram to educate people about myths surrounding mobile network towers. Presentation and literature prepared by Telecommunications and Health Departments would also be uploaded on the website of the Municipal Corporation, he added.
