Following the questions raised on the postings, the UT Administration on Wednesday took back election related duties from Additional deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tanvi Garg. UT Home Secretary Anil Kumar said Tanvi Garg had been withdrawn from poll duty.
Earlier, the Administration had appointed Garg, a 2009-batch UT-cadre officer, as nodal officer for the implementation of model code of conduct.
In a directions issued by the Chief Election Commission, it was specified that officers deputed on election duty should not be posted in their home district. As per the guidelines, the officers who have completed three years or will complete three years on or before May 31, 2014, should also not be allowed to continue in their present place of posting. Garg, who also holds the charge of Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO) MD, completed her three-year tenure last year and the Ministry Of Home Affairs (MHA) had issued her transfer orders.
