To provide corruption-free and transparent administration, the Punjab Government has decided to do away with the policy of granting extension of service to all those Government employees who are facing any departmental proceedings, vigilance inquiry or prosecution.
The decision to this effect has been taken by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on a recommendation from Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal. The Chief Secretary has been asked to issue directions to the Administrative Secretaries of all the departments to prepare list of all such employees who have been facing charges of corruption or any departmental inquiry, vigilance inquiry or prosecution in corruption related cases.
Spokesperson said that three-member committee of each department comprising of Administrative Secretary, Director and one other officer of the department would scrutinise the case of such employees requesting for extension in service and not clear any such case for extension. The state government in 2012 has launched the scheme of granting extension of one-year or two years after the age of superannuation of service, that is 58 years.
The Government has also decided to amend the notification issued on October 8, 2012, and instructions issued on January 22, 2013, to ensure that the tainted employees are not granted extension in service after 58 years of age, said the spokesperson.
