Indian National lok Dal (INlD), Haryana’s main Opposition party on Tuesday lashed out at BJP and Congress for their anti-Haryana stand on contentious Sutlej Yamuna link (SYl) issue.
The party has decided to meet Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki on Wednesday to demand dismissal of Manohar lal Khattar Government in the state for failing to safeguard Haryana’s interests on waters issue.
leader of opposition in Haryana Assembly and INlD’s senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala while talking to the mediapersons on Tuesday alleged that BJP led Haryana Government has failed to take up the SYl issue strongly with the Centre and the Chief Minister should resign immediately.
An all party meeting held by Chief Minister on November 17 had decided to call on the President and Prime Minister urging them early implementation of SC’s decision on SYl canal completion.
The decision was taken a day after Punjab Assembly had passed a resolution against giving away any land for construction of the canal and resolving to make non-riparian states Rajasthan and Delhi to pay for using waters of Ravi and Beas.
Following this, an all party delegation led by Chief Minister Manohar lal had on November 28 met President Pranab Mukherjee urging him for implementation of the SC verdict on SYl issue at the earliest.
Chautala said that it was decided to also meet the Prime Minister, on the SYl issue but nothing has been done in this regard. He said that INlD delegation will meet Haryana Governor on Wednesday and demand dismissal of State Government on SYl issue.
Chautala also reiterated that the party members will reach Ambala on February 23, to start digging the SYl canal if the Centre fails to do so by then.
Ashok Arora, INlD Haryana chief said that Haryana MlA and Congress national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala had a day before made his anti-Haryana stand clear on SYl issue when he accompanied his party leaders for releasing Punjab poll manifesto, which stated that no water would be given from the state.
The INlD will burn Congress effigies in the entire state on Wednesday to protest against the party on the issue, he said.
