A day after UT police officials pledged to keep their premises clean as a part of ‘Swachchh Bharat Abhiyaan’ and also initiated a cleanliness drive at all police units on Thursday, the exercise seemed to be just a mere formality.
During a random check of the Chandigarh police headquarters, police stations and other police units, garbage piled up in corners and parking of most of the police stations was a common sight.
The state of affairs at the Police stations of Sector-26, 11, 39, 36 and Industrial area, was noticed to be in a worst condition during The Pioneer’s reality check visit.
Meanwhile, the vehicles impounded by the police standing at the parking of the police stations, which were supposed to be cleaned by the cops of separate police stations, were also seen in the deserted conditions.
The exercise of cleaning, the offices with broom in their hands, seemed only to be an opportunity to get their pictures clicked and get highlighted in the media. However, a day after the pledge taking ceremony, nobody seemed bothered to keep their respective areas clean.
