Suspended leader accuses AAP folks of collecting funds

The suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Punjabi Singer Jassi Jasraj on Saturday leveled serious allegations of collecting money on the AAP leadership of the party in Punjab. Addressing a Press conference in Chandigarh, the AAP candidate for 2014 parliamentary polls from Bathinda, said that the party was going astray in its fight against corruption as some senior leaders of the Punjab unit were collecting funds.

Still claiming to be a believer in the philosophy of the party, Jassi said that AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal is a thorough honest man, but the coterie around him was keeping him in dark.

Jassi said that he would be going to Golden Temple, Amritsar on July 18, when Kejriwal would visit and would try to make him aware with the deeds of the Punjab’s senior party leadership.

He said that he was suspended from the party without giving him a chance to clarify his position and since then he had been trying to talk to Kejriwal, but the coterie around him was not allowing him to have a dialogue with the AAP convener.

Alleging double standards on the party leadership, Jassi said that while leaders like Dharamvir Gandhi, Daljit Singh, Harinder Singh Khalsa and he himself have been punished without explaining reasons, the party has not taken any action against leaders like Ashish Khetan, Sanjay Singh and Harjot Bains who put the party in a tough spot and admitted their mistake publicly.

Rubbishing the allegations of Jassi, AAP Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur said he was suspended for anti-party activities and he should not try to level frivolous allegations against party leaders. Replying to Jassi’s demand of meeting Kejriwal, Chhotepur said that he was open to go to Darbar Sahib on July 18, when Kejriwal was scheduled to visit Golden Temple.
