Announcing 10 points programme for the welfare of poor and Scheduled Castes (SC) in Haryana, senior Congress leader and core committee member of Indian National Congress (INC), Randeep Singh Surjewala on Sunday said if the Congress come to power in the state, the party will launch “Atta-Dal Aur Chini scheme” for SC families and provide monthly scholarship to all SC students.

Surjewala, while addressing a “Garib Adhikar Rally” at Jind also announced that Congress party on forming the State Government in Haryana would provide 20 kg flour at the rate of Rs 2 per kg, 2 kg pulses at the rate of Rs 20 per kg, 1 kilogram sugar at the rate of Rs 12 per kg to all 15 lakh dalit families.

The Congress Government would waive-off all pending water bills of Indira Gandhi Drinking Water Scheme, appoint one SC member in HPSC and HSSC, fill up 60,000 State Government backlog posts in one year, ensure abrogation of contract practice for ‘Safai Karmcharis’, constitute SC Commission with one member each from Dhanak & Oadh communities, conduct survey of all SC localities for ensuring one toilet for each SC household and repair of all SC Chaupals in the State, he said.

Making a strong pitch for educating poor and SCs, Surjewala announced that Congress party would provide Rs 1500 monthly scholarship to all SC students studying in graduation/post graduation courses, Rs 2500 monthly scholarship to all SC engineering students and Rs 5,000 monthly scholarship to all SC students doing MBBS and studying in IITs and IIMs.

The Congress leader also said that it was always the Congress Government which has served and cared for poor and scheduled castes.

He also referred to a number of incidents when SC leaders and officers were humiliated by BJP Government in Haryana. He also criticised the Union Government for increased crimes against SCs.

Referring to the ongoing feud in INLD, Surjewala said that the fight was only for share of property and ‘loot ka maal’. Both the children and the uncle are playing into BJP hands, it is a matter of fact that ’Na Chacha BJP Ke Khilaaf Hai, Na hi Bhatija Hai’; How can we forget that Dushyant Chautala, INLD MPs and MLAs voted for BJP candidate in President’s election against Meera Kumar, the daughter of Babu Jagjivan Ram, he added.

Criticising BJP for making false poll promises, Surjewala said that big promises were made by BJP before the elections but none of them have been fulfilled. He charged the BJP Governments for betraying and duping the poor, the scheduled castes and people longing to other deprived sections.

The Congress leader also criticised the BJP led Central and Haryana Governments for their anti-people policies affecting the poor and downtrodden.
