Surjewala asks people to defeat BJP's ‘politics of division'

Senior Congress leader and core committee member of Indian National Congress Randeep Singh Surjewala on Sunday said that the people need to unitedly rise against the divisive politics of ‘Phoot, Jhooth & Loot’ (division, falsehood and loot), which has become the face and DNA of BJP Governments at the state and the Centre.

Surjewala, while addressing a ‘Jan Aakrosh Rally’ at Badkali Chowk, Mewat called upon the people to pledge to end the BJP misrule, which is spearheading the divisive politics of mutual hatred on caste, region and religious lines. The nation belongs to all of us and our fight is not against the individuals but it is against the divisive policies of BJP led Central and Haryana Governments, who are trying to divide society, he added.

Surjewala said that the people are angry with the BJP Governments as they have failed to deliver on their pre-poll promises and tried to divide the society.

Referring to the Indian National Lok Dal and Jannayak Janta Party, Surjewala said that both INLD and Dushyant Chautala of JJP have been supporting BJP and vote for any of them was an indirect vote to BJP. How can we forget that Dushyant, INLD MPs and MLAs voted for BJP candidate in President’s election against Meira Kumar, the daughter of Babu Jagjivan Ram and how can we forget that they have always supported for BJP and never opposed BJP, he added.

Notably, Surjewala, who was seen as a strong Jat candidate in the three-cornered Jind bypoll battle, had ended up at third spot, behind young candidate Digvijay Chautala of barely a month-old political outfit, Jannayak Janta Party (JJP).

Surjewala had secured 22,740 votes against the 50,566 bagged by the winning BJP candidate Krishan Lal Middha in Jind bypoll. Meanwhile, Surjewala announced that Congress on forming Government in Haryana, would ensure resumption of the Rajiv Gandhi Rainy Well project and establish a University in Mewat, he added.
