To ensure social distancing to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the city, the Chandigarh Administration on Thursday decided to extend the summer vacation in the schools till further orders.
The summer vacation was to end on May 15 as per the previous order of Administration.
Last month, the Administration had announced that all government schools and government-aided schools will have summer vacation from April 15 to May 15. The private schools were also asked to synchronize the same.
The UT’s order issued on Thursday stated, “It has been decided that summer vacation in all the government or government aided schools of UT Chandigarh are hereby extended till further orders.”
The decision has been taken after the review of existing situation by UT Administrator VP Singh related to the spread of Coronavirus in Chandigarh.
The cases stood at 191 in the city till Thursday evening.
Recently, the Administration had also postponed beginning of public dealings in its offices till May 18.
While the public dealings in UT offices were to start on May 11, it was postponed till May 18. The Sampark Centres will also open from May 18 as per the UT’s order.
