After creating a history by wresting power for the time in Chandigarh’s Panjab University Student Council polls, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is all set to make the swearing-in ceremony of its student leaders a memorable affair. Party president and Punjab’s Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal would attend the ceremony on Thursday as chief guest, something happening for the first time.
SAD’s student wing, Student Organization of India (SOI), registered a clean sweep in alliance with HIMSU, NSO and INSO in the Panjab University Campus Student Council elections in August and created history by winning all posts with huge margins. “As the new office bearers of the PU students’ council will take oath of office, Sukhbir Badal, acting upon his promise, would attend the ceremony. This is for the first time that a political leader, that too of a stature of Deputy CM, will be participating as a chief guest in swearing-in function of the student council,” said SOI member.
