Sukhbir hails court order on anti-Sikh riots

Shiromani Akali Dal president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Wednesday welcomed the judgment of Karakudam Court rejecting the closure report filed by Center Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that has exonerated Congress Sewa Dal Chief Jagdish Tytler in 1984 anti Sikh genocide.

Sukhbir, in a statement issued after his return from Goa, termed it as “a first small victory in 30-year-long sustained battle by thousands of families of victims” and SAD that had been fighting at every front to defeat the nefarious designs of Congress party that was bent upon to give clean chit to architects of worst ever massacre of Sikhs.

“Since the day of massacre, Congress party is working overtime to block all avenues of justice by pressurising Delhi Police, CBI and families of the victims.

The whole exercise is aimed at protecting inhabitants of 10 Janpath on whose instance this worst ever massacre was planned and executed by Tytler, Sajjan Kumar Bhagat and their gangs of Congress goondas,” said Sukhbir.

He went on to add that despite indictment by various commissions of enquiries, Tytler and Sajjan Kumar were awarded by Congress party various posts and were given tickets for lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha seats to give a subtle message to the witnesses that they should not depose against high and mighty of the Government.

Expressing concern over using the premier investigation agency like CBI as “a tool to exonerate the main culprits”, Sukhbir said that despite strict objections by the then CBI Joint Director, then CBI Director went out of way to file closure report in the court citing lack of evidence against Jagdish Tytler.

Asking Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to take moral responsibility for denying justice to 3000 Sikh families, who were denied justice and requested them take some belated gestures by expelling Tytler and Sajjan Kumar from the primary membership of Congress party if they were sincere to the cause of natural justice to innocent Sikh victims.

Sukhbir also requested President Pranab Mukherjee to immediately sack that Governor, who was earlier CBI Director that gave clean chit to Jagdish Tytler.

“The person, who was lured for a post of Governor and ignored the massacre of 3000 Sikhs has no moral authority to sit on the august constitutional post of the Governor,” he added.

He also welcomed Supreme Court’s judgment upholding life term of four accused of 1984 Sikh riots — lal Bahadur, Surinderpal Singh, Ram lal and Vijender Singh — earlier acquitted by lower court citing technical reason of two-day delay in registration of FIR and 27-day delay in recording a statement of witnesses.
