Sukhbir expresses shock over Sajjan's acquittal

Expressing shock and anguish at the acquittal of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in 1984 Sikh carnage case, the Shiromani Akali Dal president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday hoped that the Supreme Court would take cognizance of “blatant denial of justice” to the families of 3,000 Sikh victims and order reinvestigation as done in the case of Jagdish Tytler.

Sukhbir, in a statement, said that it was the most unfortunate that a glimmer of hope for justice 29 years after biggest massacre of the century got dashed due to open complicity of Delhi Police, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and their mentor Congress.

“It is ironical for the biggest democracy of the country that the judgement came on a day when CBI itself admitted in the Apex Court that they get the crucial files vetted by the Congress Ministers especially which Congress leaders were accused,” he added.

Sukhbir further added that the whole Congress leadership was bent upon safeguarding 10 Janpath as any custodial interrogation of Sajjan and Tytler would expose its hand in this massacre.

“Both these architects of massacre are being protected just to safeguard the ‘first family’ interest in this massacre. SAD would not allow Congress party to put a lid on this biggest ever massacre and would continue to fight till all culprits including Sajjan and Tytler are given exemplary punishment,” said Sukhbir.

Calling upon all political parties to come forward to expose the killer face of Congress party by supporting the just cause of Sikhs, Sukhbir said that all parties were rising above the caste and community considerations should join hands with the SAD as denial of justice to the victims of more than 3,000 Sikhs killed in the capital of India would raise a question mark on the credibility of democratic and Judicial system of the country.
