With an eye on 2017 Punjab Assembly polls, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Thursday gave a clarion call to the party workers to bolster the party’s pro-people image by undertaking an aggressive publicity campaign in the State.

Sukhbir, in a meeting with all the district presidents and office-bearers of SAD’s students’ wing — Students’ Organisation of India (SOI), exhorted the young turks to make their presence felt by guiding the college students about various welfare schemes so that masses in large number get to know about pro-development policies and programmes of the party.

He called for distribution of sports kits and gyms apart from organizing cultural programs in their respective areas, to take students to showcase Punjab’s landmarks like Virasat-e-Khalsa, Science City and other prominent ones besides taking students at big sports extravaganza so that youth power in the form of SOI is visible all over.

Coming to certain other aspects, Sukhbir said that SOI office bearers must carry their identity cards and SAD badges having ‘Proud to be Akakli’ with them every time and they should take pride in showing their Akali identity as SAD is the second oldest party in the country whose history is replete with sacrifices made for the sake of the nation.

He also laid stress on publicizing every achievement of the SAD-BJP government on social media, taking video vans to every nook and corner of the state besides showing movie ‘Chaar Sahibzaade’ to the masses.
