Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal on Tuesday appealed to the Akali rank and file as well as the Khalsa panth to recite ‘mool mantra’ and hold ‘ardas’ on Wednesday to pray for the souls of those killed in the 1984 massacre of Sikhs as well as punishment for those who organized this genocide.
He said that the Akal Takth jathedar, Giani Gurbachan Singh had already made an appeal in this regard and he endorsed the same.
“I urge the Sikh sangat to pray for an end to ‘jabar’ and ‘zulm’ even as they remember the horrendous manner in which the community was targeted in 1984 in Delhi and at some other places in the country,” he said.
SAD president said that simultaneously, all Sikhs world over were still waiting for a closure to the events of 1984 during the course of which the Congress party organized an executed a mass genocide which was unparalleled in the history of independent India.
