Sukhbir embarks on whirlwind campaign tour

Giving boost to the Indian National lok Dal (INlD) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) alliance’s “60-plus” poll target, the SAD president and Punjab Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Wednesday launched whirlwind election campaign in Haryana.

Sukhbir, addressing gatherings at more than dozen villages, recalled the initiatives taken by INlD and especially Chaudhary Devi lal government for Haryana’s development and welfare of common masses. He appealed to the voters to draw a comparison between pro-people INlD governments and the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress Government.

“Devi lal and Chautala led governments worked for overall development and welfare of the state, whereas the Congress government in Haryana was busy in political vendetta and development of Rohtak constituency alone during last 10 years….Congress government framed false charges against Om Parkash Chautala and that too for providing employment to youth,” said Sukhbir.

Recalling the political vendetta adopted by erstwhile Congress government in Punjab against his family, Sukhbir said: “As all the cases against Badal family had been dismissed and people of Punjab bestowed faith in Parkash Singh Badal twice in a row, similarly, the people of Haryana would also vote for their beloved leader Om Parkash Chautala to put a full stop to the conspiracies planned against him by the Congress party.”

Describing Haryana assembly polls as “end of Congress era in Haryana politics”, he said that response and support being received by the SAD-INlD alliance in Haryana had made it clear that the alliance was all set to form the next government in the State.

“I am confident that INlD-SAD alliance would get more than 60 seats in Haryana assembly poll,” said Sukhbir who later headed a meeting of zone in-charges at Sirsa to discuss the campaign strategy.

It has been decided that Punjab deputy Chief Minister would address more than 24 rallies at Panchkula, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Ambala city, Kaithal, Panipat, Sonepat, Faridabad, Rohtak and Fatehabad till October 13 to ensure record victory of alliance candidates.
