SUKHBIR BLASTS PUNJAB GOVT FOR POWER TARIFF HIKE

SAD president Sukhbir Badal on Tuesday described as “back breaking” the latest steep hike in the electricity tariff announced in Punjab.

“This is the first shock being delivered by the Amarinder government after the elections. I fear more will follow,” said Sukhbir who said that it was utterly inexplicable and unjustified that a State, which has already been made power surplus by the SAD BJP government, people should be repeatedly crushed under the heavy burden of electricity bills.

He said that the Government had already punished the Dalit and poorer sections by inflicting harsh conditions in the free 200 units given to domestic consumers by the SAD-BJP government.

The latest decision will hit every section of society and every sector of economy especially domestic, agriculture, trade and industry, he said.

Sukhbir said that the farmers were not being provided regular power supply as in most cases they are getting only four hours per day which is causing immense problems to the farmers.

Meanwhile, SAD core committee passed a resolution on the issue. The party came down heavily on the “crushing” hike in the electricity tariff in the State, especially when the facility of 200 free units to the poor was being withheld and the farmers, the industry, traders and the domestic sector were already reeling under the back-breaking burden imposed on them by this government.

The party also lashed out against the Government for the irregular supply to every sector, especially domestic, farmers and the industry in the state.
