Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and SAD president Sukhbir Badal on Wednesday asked State Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh to reveal “how many jobs he offered during his last stint as Chief Minister of the State from 2002-2007 in 1,500 days before offering jobs to each family and `2,500 per month till such jobs are created”.
Confronting Patiala Royal on his “bizarre” promise, Sukhbir said that Capt Amarinder’s record on the front of providing jobs had been dismal. “In fact, there remained complete ban on recruitment to Government jobs while the economy remained stagnant resulting in squeezing of job opportunities. Thus, job opportunities declined during Amarinder’s five-year tenure,” he said.
On the contrary, our Government has provided 2.40 lakh jobs in Government sector alone besides creating of lot many more in organised and unorganised sector with booming of economy, he claimed.
Sukhbir said that the Congress record had been abysmal as its government could provide not even ten percent of jobs offered by the SAD-BJP Government during its tenure from 2002-2007 as it provided only 24,000 jobs.
Scoffing at Capt Amarinder’s “lofty poll eve announcement” of at least one job in each family christened as ‘Har Ghar Ton Ek Captan’ along with `2,500 per month “berozgari bhatta” to each youth between the age of 18 to 35, Sukhbir said that both AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Amarinder are in one-upmanship game and each trying to outwit other and in turn are looking absurd.
“Amarinder is parroting what Congress poll
architect Prashant Kishore is dictating without understanding its implications. Thus, Amarinder has become a puppet in the hands of PK,” he said.
