After unscheduled power cuts in last few days, the officials of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam had to face the wrath of local people in the Chief Minister’s constituency in Gohana area.
The perturbed villagers of Sikanderpur Majra village in the area not only damaged the power substation there by pelting stones, but also locked two personnel of the Power department on duty there for not providing 24 hours electricity to their area.At a time when the temperature is hovering above 40 degree Celsius across the State, the residents are facing the double whammy of power outages and sultry weather.“This is not the case of one area, everywhere unscheduled power cuts are taking place in the same way. Now, the parliamentary elections are over and the State Government has started unscheduled power cuts,” alleged a local villager there.
A spokesman of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) admitted that there was interruptions in power supply, including low voltage, tripping, break downs, damage to transformers, etc. but at the same time added that it is due to unauthorised extension of load by consumers.Such malpractice has been declared offence under the Electricity Act and hence it invites heavy penalty, he added. The spokesman also asked public for co-operation by refraining themselves from putting unauthorised load on the electricity distribution system for maintaining a qualitative regular power supply during the scheduled period. He urged the consumers not to extend load without prior approval of the DHBVN for better electricity service.
