From a tea vendor to a mass leader, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s meteoric rise in politics and his vision for the nation would be staged on the streets of Chandigarh.
The city BJP is now raring to go against the opposition Congress and Aam Aadmi party (AAP) with a traditional means of campaigning through street plays across Chandigarh.
The street theatre, an integral part of Indian tradition, would act as a valuable tool for the city BJP to promote NaMo and pick apart AAP in the city ahead of upcoming lok Sabha elections.
Following the directions of Central BJP leadership to keep the electioneering NaMo centric this time, the city BJP leaders seems to have put their heart and soul to endorse Modi and exploring all avenues for the said purpose.
After a series of innovative campaigns like “Modi bricks”, “Tea vendors posters campaign”, “Kamal Mehni and Rangoli” among others, the party will now enact street plays across Chandigarh to market “Modi for PM” message and hit out at the Opposition.
Aiming to promote Narendra Modi, the city BJP Art and Culture wing has prepared the street play’s script to showcase Modi’s leadership qualities and his vision. Besides picking apart its archrival Congress, the BJP will also launch a scathing attack on the newly formed Aam Aadmi Party (AAM) while enacting the street play.
Talking to The Pioneer, Abhishek Sharma, chief of Chandigarh BJP’s Art and Culture wing said, “The wing would enact street plays across the city to promote Modi and to expose the opposition. The street plays will start from February onwards.”
“After the directions from the senior leaders, the wing has prepared a script that would portray Modi in good light. AAP would be also our focus in the 15-20 minutes street play,” he said.
From writing the script to enact the play, the BJP’ Art and Culture wing had been entrusted with the responsibility to disseminate Modi’s ideology in both rural and urban areas of the city.
Abhishek added, “The play would be enacted in front of national leaders and after their approval, the Art and Culture wing would soon start their campaign through
street plays.”
The Art and Culture wing has roped in theatre students who are also party workers. These youngsters will be performing across the city intending to support Modi and expose the alleged crass politics of the Congress and the AAP. Notably, the city BJP had organised a series of street plays to make people aware about the alleged involvement of local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal in the Railway Board Bribery Scam. From the discussion of duo about bribe money to phone calls exchanged, the play entertainingly portrays the infamous Railway Board Bribery Scam.
At that time, the street plays titled Kalyugi Mammi Bhanjja and Yahan Sab Chalta Hai were staged in the busy markets of the city. Captivating spectator’s attention, the play drew a comparison between uncle-nephew duo Singla-Bansal and infamous mythological pair Shakuni-Duryodhana.
Ahead of the crucial lok Sabha election 2014, the party has been utilising all potential means of communication to reach out to voters of both urban and rural areas. From invading the social networking platforms to marching through the streets, BJP leaders are apparently giving their best shot to create awareness among the masses.
