Haryana Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister, Om Prakash Dhankar presided over a review meeting of the Department on Wednesday.

During the meeting, he directed the officers to ensure that the VlDs and Deputy Directors deputed in field should encourage cattle-breeders to adopt Pashu Bima Yojana. Besides, they should also ensure that information related to all schemes of Central and State Governments for providing subsidy for milch animals and for setting up of dairy units could reach cattle-breeders, said he.

Dhankar directed the officers to redress the grievances received at CM Window on priority basis and implement the CM announcements in a time bound manner.

At the meeting, Principal Secretary of the Department, Abhilaksh likhi said that a meeting with Additional Chief Secretaries of Urban local Bodies and Development and Panchayats Departments would soon be held and a committee would be constituted which would work on this scheme and give feedback to the government.

It was also informed that four cow shelters would be established in the first phase and land has been made available in Panipat, Hisar and Bhiwani for this purpose. Similarly, work is under progress to establish Gokul Gram at Hisar under the Gokul Mission.

The State Government has planned to establish 40 cow sanctuaries  in a phased manner to accommodate 1.17 lakh stray cattle in Haryana.

In order to accomplish this objective, the Government has initiated steps to identify and earmark the land pools for establishing these sanctuaries at the strategic locations in various parts of the state,

Also, census of cattle in the state would be conducted in 2017 and the Department would make efforts to ensure that the cattle heads are tagged with 12-digit tags.

The State has a
