Punjab on Monday reported the steepest spike of 3,477 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus in a single day, pushing the state’s Covid-19 tally to 2,76,223. The previous single day highest spike was registered on Friday (April 9) with 3,459 cases. As 52 more people succumbed to the deadly contagion, the state’s death toll has reached 7,559 with the highest number of casualties, eight each, reported from Amritsar and Hoshiarpur.
Besides, five death each were reported from Patiala, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, and Ludhiana; three from Kapurthala; two each from Faridkot, Pathankot, and Ropar; and one each from Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazilka, Ferozpur, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Muktsar, SBS Nagar (Nawanshahr), and Tarn Taran.
